Inspired by my visit to Kolkata last year, this painting grew from a lasting impression of the city’s rhythm and character. The iconic yellow taxi stood out to me, not just as a vehicle, but as a symbol of everyday movement and life and that peculiar identity of the City of Joy. Ever since that trip, I wanted to capture that moment in paint.
This acrylic work focuses on light, colour, and motion, aiming to reflect the energy of the street with those archaic British era louvre windows, while keeping the subject simple and recognisable. It conveys a sense of journey, resilience, and the quiet beauty found in ordinary scenes.
